OMAHA, Neb. — Justin Grimm’s College World Series debut was memorable.

The University of Georgia freshman pitcher struck out the first two batters he faced and threw an inning of relief on Tuesday in game two of the College World Series championship series.

Georgia dropped a 19-10 decision to Fresno State. The teams will meet tonight with the winner claiming the NCAA Division I title.

A Virginia High graduate, Grimm entered the slugfest in the sixth and preceded to strike out Danny Grubb and Steve Detwiler. After allowing a single to Jordan Ribera, Grimm got Danny Muno to ground out for the third out of the inning.

Things were rougher in the seventh inning for Grimm as the first four Fresno State hitters reached base against the right-hander. He allowed a two-run single to Alan Ahmady and was then taken out of the game in favor of another reliever.

In his inning of work, Grimm allowed three runs, one hit, struck out two, walked two and hit a batter. It was the 19th appearance of the season for Grimm and his first outing since June 7.
