PULASKI, Va. — Andrew Garcia connected for a home run for the second straight night, but it wasn’t enough as the Bristol White Sox suffered an 8-7 setback to the Pulaski Mariners on Wednesday night at Calfee Park.
Garcia blasted a solo shot in the fourth inning and it was his fourth homer of the season. He finished 2-for-4 and has compiled a .320 batting average this season.
Jose Vargas (3-for-5, four RBIs) also had a big night for the Sox, while Jordan Kendall, Brandon Short and Jorge Castillo added two hits apiece.
The problem for Bristol (9-3) was the pitching staff as three Sox pitchers combined to give up 12 hits. Po-Yu Lin suffered the loss in relief, allowing two earned runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Pulaski (8-7) ended Bristol’s eight-game win streak on Tuesday and followed that up with another close victory on Wednesday. Tommy Johnson had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Mariners.
The teams close out their series tonight. Bristol returns home on Friday to kick off a three-game series with the Elziabethton Twins. Elizabethton currently sits in first place in the Appy League’s West Division, ahead of second place Bristol.
