From Staff and Wire Reports
PULASKI, Va. – A late comeback attempt fell short and as a result the Bristol White Sox saw their six-game winning streak come to an end with a 4-3 setback to the Pulaski Mariners on Tuesday night at Calfee Park.

Bristol (9-4) suffered its first loss since June 23. The BriSox almost pulled this one off.

Andrew Garcia crushed his third home run of the season – a three-run shot to right field off Pulaski reliever Jeff Dunbar – that plated Juan Silverio and Kenneth Gilbert and pulled Bristol within one.

However, Dunbar got Kevin Dubler to ground out and struck out Jedon Matthews to end the game and preserve the win for the Mariners.

Designated hitter Jorge Castillo continued his torrid hitting for BriSox. He raised his batting average to .410 after going 3-for-4.

Bristol starter Joucer Martinez worked five scoreless innings and struck out five, but had to settle for a no-decision. Sox reliever Michael Lucas (0-1, 3.18 ERA) suffered the loss after allowing two runs in the sixth inning.

Kris Sanchez went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to pace Pulaski. Starting pitcher Kenn Kasparek (2-0, 3.21 ERA) struck out seven over six shutout innings for the victory.

The teams play again tonight at 7 p.m. in Pulaski.
