BLUEFIELD, Va. – Bristol exploded for six runs in the second inning and added five more in the third, and the White Sox rolled to a 19-5 win against Bluefield Thursday night in Appalachian League play.
In all, the Sox pounded 23 hits, including four by designated hitter Jedon Matthews and three apiece by center fielder Justin Greene, second baseman Andrew Garcia and catcher Shaydron Buckridge.
One of Matthews’ hits was his second home run of the season.
Joucer Martinez pitched 5 2/3 innings to run his record to 4-3. Charles Leesman finished up with scoreless relief to earn his first save.
The White Sox (32-27) are 5 1/2 games behind Elizabethon in the league’s West Division.
