Campaign Message: I have conservative values and common sense solutions. I would like to see responsible stewardship of tax dollars and an end to the wasteful and irresponsible spending in this county. I will work to create an atmosphere in this county that will give businesses the economic freedom to prosper.
I am running to give the people of Madison District a conservative choice on the ballot. I want to represent the will of the people, which is not currently happening. I want to have an open government where the people know the issues and are allowed a voice in the decisions being made. Aggressively seeking jobs needs to be a priority with the Board of Supervisors.
Most significant issues: Wasteful and irresponsible spending, the need for jobs, the non-business friendly atmosphere, the will of the people being ignored.
If elected, I will work to reduce or or eliminate the burdensome county regulations and red tape that are driving businesses away from Washington County. I would like to encourage new businesses with incentives and seek state and federal assistance with those businesses. Government has failed miserably in creating jobs. We need to create an atmosphere that welcomes business and agriculture, giving them freedom to prosper.
Truck stop proposal? With the information I know, I will lean toward a favorable vote.
Natural gas drilling: If proven safe and effective, I will vote to allow drilling. However, I will need more information to make a final decision.
New county office building: I strongly oppose the purchase of a new county office building. The astronomical cost will be an unnecessary tax burden to our citizens. This is a classic example of a nontransparent government that is not seeking of the will of the people. Government does not need extravagant office spaces to conduct business. This was a purchase of want, not need.
Tornado: I will work with state and federal agencies to try to obtain any resources and assistance available. I will also work with local authorities and agencies to ensure our readiness in the event of another disaster.
I am the conservative choice in this race. I will listen to the people before making decisions about our county. I will be the voice for Madison District. There is clearly a distinct difference with my opponent and me in the way this county's government should operate. I will be a responsible steward of your tax dollars.
