The public defender will continue to represent one of the two men charged with last month's double murder in Johnson County.

In court today, Jamie Curd told the judge he still had not hired an attorney.

Curd, along with Marvin Potter, Junior are charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Billy Payne - who investigators say were murdered in front of their baby.

While Potter has hired an attorney, Curd has not.  To keep the case moving, the Judge has allowed Curd to keep his appointed lawyer, but upped his payment to the public defender fund to $4,000. Usually, defendants have to pay between $200 and $500.

Curd and Potter are due back in court for their preliminary hearing on March 21st.
