A Mendota, Va. man has been charged with second degree murder after his 6-month-old nephew died, authorities said.
Ira Joe Green, 20, of the 16000 block of Mendota Road, was arrested this morning, said Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman.
An investigation into the November death of the infant revealed the baby died from head trauma, Newman said. Authorities were called out to the home around 9 a.m., Nov. 7 to check on an unresponsive infant, Newman said. The child was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Green will be arraigned in Washington County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
