Thank you for the column in the Friday, 2/10/12, edition "The politics of birth control" by Kathleen Parker. I don’t always agree with Ms. Parker but appreciate her comments in this instance and have emailed my thanks to her. She is right on target for seeing the big picture behind this. It is an attack on the freedom of conscience of the Catholic Church. And if others cannot see it that way and stand in our defense, I am afraid this is the first of such attacks against religious freedom/conscience and the US Constitution. We are in a fight for the soul of our Nation.
The Catholic Church is not dictating to women as a whole how they must behave, only to Catholic women who wish to remain in good standing in our Church. I know of few churches that do not have edicts on how their members should behave. If my conscience is to be well formed, should it not comply with the dictates of my church?
