Area doctor pleads guilty to 34 counts of obtaining narcotics by fraud

One of the region's top heart doctors pleaded guilty to all 34 counts of obtaining narcotics by fraud.

He is now on 5 years probation and was fined $2,000.  Dr. Bill Walker worked for Mountain States Health Alliance as a heart surgeon.  In November District Attorney Tony Clark said Walker smuggled prescription drugs--mostly painkillers like oxycontin and loratab--for nearly 2 years to feed his own addiction.
