On Feb. 7 the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a storage building on Hobbs Hollow Rd. had been broken into.

The victim said that someone had taken more than $16,000 worth of antiques and household items from the storage unit she rents. Detectives began investigating the case and found that some of the items had been sold to In the Attic on West State St. in Bristol, Va.

The investigation led investigators to Kevin Guyer. Detectives interviewed Guyer, 40, who confessed to stealing some of the items then selling them in order to get money for food and bath salts. Detectives were able to recover some of the victim’s property. The investigation is still ongoing.

This story is derived from a Sullivan County Sheriff's Office report.
