Silent Auction for Tucker Montgomery

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A local furniture store turned their business into a silent auction today, raising money for injured football player Tucker Montgomery. Montgomery suffered a debilitating head injury this fall while playing football for Tri-Cities Christian.

Today, Ashley Furniture in Johnson City provided items and set up stations where people could bid on items or simply make a donation.

Sherry Buchanan donated and bid on an item. "It’s something I felt that I needed to do. My husband and I were walking around the store talking about it and like I said, it’s just something I felt like I need to do."

Organizers say they estimate the auction made $3,000 and all of that money goes straight into the “Wheels for Tucker Fund” designed to buy a van for Tucker's family for transportation.

The goal for the fund is $15,000 and the account balance as of now is $11,700.

If you would like to donate, it’s not too late. You can make donations at any First Tennessee branch. Just ask for the "John Trott for Tucker Montgomery" account.
