United Way of Russell and Washington Counties along its Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet, volunteers and staff will begin filling backpacks for their “Backpacks Unite” program which was recently launched in August. This program is designed to support and provide school children who do not have enough to eat on the weekends with backpacks filled with nutritious and easy to prepare foods.

You can join them Monday, Oct. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as they prepare a month’s supply of food for over 380 children in 17 Russell and Washington County schools. The event will be held at Pleasant View Methodist Church at 18416 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, Va. 24210.

Backpacks will then be delivered Tuesday, Oct. 4. For more details of the delivery route and schedule please join us Monday.
