Tickets to the Aug. 21 “Mountain Stage” show in Bristol are now available at the Paramount box office and online at www.theparamountcenter.com.
With Country Music Hall of Fame performer Vince Gill as its headliner, organizers of the Aug. 21 “Mountain Stage” show expect tickets will sell out quickly.
Gill, who has sold more than 26 million records, won 20 Grammy Awards and is a former Academy of Country Music top male vocalist and instrumentalist, is scheduled to headline the annual event at the Paramount Center for the Arts. It will mark the eighth time the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance has brought the internationally broadcast radio show to the Twin City.
“Vince is a wonderful entertainer and so talented. It’s wonderful to get him here,” said Edd Hill, immediate past chairman of the alliance’s board of directors. “In the past, we may have had some people here not everybody knows them. I think everyone probably knows about Vince Gill – even people who don’t like music.”
Tickets are now on sale and show host Larry Groce on Friday predicted a sellout.
“I think it will sell out quickly once people find out,” Groce said. “And the Paramount is not all that big.”
Gill, who dominated mainstream country music song charts for more than a decade, plans to bring his entire band and will likely perform songs from his upcoming album “Guitarslinger,” Groce said.
The lineup for the “Mountain Stage” show was announced Friday during a news conference at the alliance office. In addition to Gill – who has appeared on the show once before – all-female bluegrass players Red Molly and the David Mayfield Parade will perform. Mayfield formerly performed with the now-disbanded Cadillac Sky.
Two other acts will be added to the lineup, Groce said.
“This is our eighth show here and this place feels so wonderful. You have a great thing going on with the alliance and Rhythm & Roots and the folks at the Paramount,” Groce said.
They plan to record a two-hour radio program that will be broadcast at a later date. The show is distributed on more than 100 National Public Radio stations, including WETS-FM 89.5 in Johnson City, Tenn.
