Graduates of the Niswonger NICU had their chance to shine Saturday at the NICU Graduation for the infants of 2005.
Now 5 years-old and able to enjoy a Mad Hatter tea party, Blake and Emmerson Head were once babies in the NICU. Blake says he was excited to celebrate his NICU graduation, “We're here and we're so excited and we saw that rabbit.”
Their parents, Marnie and Bryan say they were even more excited to attend the Tea Party. “We're just here to see the people that made their stay in NICU much shorter than it should have been. They were born 9 weeks early but only had to stay in the hospital for 10 days so we're just blessed.”
The Head twins were 2 of 500 premies born in 2005 that were invited to the Alice and Wonderland themed event.
Head Nurse of NICU Renee Lowe says, “It’s just wonderful to be able to see how they've grown, how much they've changed. Of course they've changed a great bit.”
The Digital Media Department at ETSU spent more than 750 hours creating the set for the NICU graduation, and by the smiles on the kids’ faces, every hour was well worth the time.
