BRISTOL, Va. – Two men pleaded guilty Friday to a February street racing incident that claimed the life of an Abingdon nurse.

Joseph Dewayne Rose, 19, and Joshua Mark Henson, 20, entered their pleas without an agreement from the commonwealth’s attorney’s office. They are scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 15, and face a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Authorities allege that Henson and Rose raced down the highway Feb. 8 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Rose is accused of crashing into the vehicle of Melinda Woodward, 38, killing her instantly.

Henson avoided the wreck and kept going, authorities said.
