Intermont auctions Skoby's ahead of demolition

»  Comments | Post a Comment

In 1946, Fred Barger Sr. -- father of "Pal" Barger -- opened a restaurant in Kingsport. Skoby's became a regional landmark.

The restaurant changed hands twice. Pal took over in 1971, then donated Skoby's to Virginia Intermont College in 2005. They used it as a culinary institute.

The kitchen is closed now, but the building is packed with antiques ready to be auctioned off.

The auction starts at 10 a.m. Monday.

Interested parties can make bids in person (999 Konnarock Road in Kingsport) or on the internet (www.auctionauction.com).

Kimball M. Sterling Inc. will preview the items on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday from 8 to 9 a.m.
