The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals is ordering David Phillips to pay for his appeal. Phillips briefly appeared in court Friday so Judge Robert Cupp could correct a clerical mistake in the record.
During the brief hearing, Cupp also told Phillips the appeals court has ordered him to pay $1,194 by next week to cover the cost of his failed appeal. Both Phillips and his attorney said the money will be paid.
Phillips is currently serving a six-year sentence. Jurors convicted him with vehicular homicide stemming from a 2005 street racing crash that claimed the life of Cortney Hensley and severely injured her friend Courtney Beard.
