Blood-thirsty neighbors make outdoor activities a hassle

Blood-thirsty neighbors make outdoor activities a hassle

Water-proof bug spray is a staple at the Privette's backyard pool. Mosquitoes make the area a much less desirable hangout.

Washington Co., Tenn. -- The hot humid season is in the air, and as we all know, the wet heat brings mosquitoes.
A neighborhood in Washington County, Tennessee has been dealing with a terrible mosquito infestation for years, since, they say, Pioneer, Inc Fencing Co. moved in next door. They say the company has fences piled upon each other, which leaves room for water to sit, and in that still water, mosquitoes breed.
Neighbors say they can't enjoy being outside in the summer if they're constantly being bit, or applying heavy-duty deet bug spray.
Larry Privette wants a solution, and he's called the Health Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the local zoning office. He's seen no results.
"The EPA and the Health Department, they say the Zoning, it's their problem," says Privette. "They (the zoning office) gave them the building permit, put the fencing company in; they should be the ones have to do something about it."
