Most of us never give much thought to our power of thinking. Clear thinking is basically our ability to distinguished between facts and opinions. Nowhere is clear thinking at lower ebb than during political campaigns. Exaggerations, distortions and bald-faced lies run rampant and the number of people who believe them is astonishing. Judgment is our mental ability to perceive and distinguish.
Fox, Beck, Rush continue to influence by innuendo and opinions masquerading as news, producing mass hysteria, which is louder than actual truth.
Problem-solving is the core. If we have not learned to solve problems, we end up dependent on others who influence opinions. Health care reform has been a need in the United States for years. Presidents Roosevelt, Nixon, Kennedy and Clinton made it a priority issue. However, they could not find congressional support.
Finally, President Obama, with his sheer fortitude, intellect and real feel for the needs of the people, is bringing health care nearer to fruition. Social Security was challenged. Medicare was challenged. Where would millions of people be today without these successful government programs?
Our president was on Fox News recently. He was not granted the courtesy of completing an answer without rude interruption by the interviewer. This is proof of Fox discrediting President Obama and total disrespect for the Office of the President.
Health care reform has many favorable aspects for all of us. The party of no is working to prevent this important care. The bitterness and spewing venom by the opinions should not be allowed to diminish necessary health care. Clear thinking should abide.
