Coverage gave Brown more focus

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the headline on your newspaper’s Friday, March 12, 2010, edition: “Cop killer on Facebook.” You played into his hands. He wants publicity and you gave it to him.
This worthless, cowardly excuse for a human being should have been dead long ago. No longer than 30 days after he killed police officer Mark Vance he should have died in the electric chair or been hanged. Death by a needle would be too good for him.
I am 78 years old and this is my first letter to the editor. Unless the silent majority speaks up, these injustices will continue. It’s time that killers, rapists, child molesters and drug dealers pay with their lives for the damage they are doing to the innocent, tax-paying, law-abiding citizens.
If we killed this scum of the earth, we wouldn’t have to build bigger jails, prisons and courthouse palaces. The money saved could be used for education and to help the poor who have worked hard all their lives to make an honest living.
If took years to get us in this mess that we call justice and it will take years to get us out, but it is time to start. This liberal court system is a joke, except I’m not laughing. There are too many appeals, too much plea bargaining and not enough true justice. Instead of prisoners laying around in a heated and air-conditioned jail, eating three meals a day, with free medical and dental care, watching TV, reading law books and exercising, they should be out on a chain gang, picking up trash, cleaning trees out of the streams and earning their keep. Let’s go back to the good old days. If you broke the law, you paid the price.

Just get rid off all the incumbents

Please let’s get rid of all the gray beards in the Congress and breathe new life into the White House!
Why tolerate the comedy of our legislators?
One four-year term should be sufficient (even too long for some) if the truth be known. Let Americans care for Americans. I’m not one for regifting, but I would vote to regift the Statue of Liberty. We can no longer abide by “give us your poor...” because Americans are poor themselves from giving everything to everyone including underdeveloped countries and animal shelters.
Everyone suffers burnout eventually. I burned out 15 years ago, but must go on. Just ask the state of Tennessee.

What good comes from time change?

Daylight saving time: Where did this come from? I lost one hour of my time on Sunday. Some say that golfers wanted it. There might be some other excuses to change it.
On Fox News Tuesday morning, they were telling people how to cope with it.
Does everyone have a body clock?
Does this affect everyone by losing this hour? How does this affect school children? Does it cause accidents?
Do we really have to do this two times per year?
Conclusion: I have eight clocks to change. It is easy to do. But I have a terrible time with my body clock. It wants to stay where it is. I have heard there are some places in the United States that don’t change the time and instead keep the same clock year-round.
I have been wanting to write a letter to the news media for a long time about this topic, but never got around to it until now. Do you think this is a problem?
A suggestion from a lady I know, and named for her: Let’s use “Blanche” time. Change the clocks a half hour and forget it.
