Convicted JC murderer denied new trial

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A man convicted of second-degree murder will not get a new trial, at least not if Judge Jerry Beck has anything to do with it. Friday in Washington County, TN Criminal Court, Judge Beck denied Jason Austin's request for a new trial, District Attorney Tony Clark said. Austin currently faces a sentence of 23 years in prison for his role in the 2005 shooting death of Brian Ricker at the Days Inn in Johnson City. Austin is expected to appeal Beck's decision to the Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals, Clark said.

In 2008, Judge Beck denied Danny Greene's request for a new trial. Judge Beck also sentenced the co-defendant in the case to 23 years behind bars.
