New murder trial date set for Wendi Garrison

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A woman convicted of second-degree murder more than two years ago will get a new trial this summer. Wendi Nicole Garrison appeared inside a Carter County courtroom Thursday morning. In March 2007, a jury found Garrison guilty of second-degree murder for shooting Josh Perry in the head.

However, last August the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Judge Lynn Brown erred during Garrison's trial by not instructing the jury to also consider a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. In court Thursday, Judge Brown set Garrison's new trial date for June 14. The trial is expected to last four days.
