March 7
* A woman called from Mary Street to report some kids who threw a stick at her Nissan Altima and damaged the roof. She told police she followed one boy “since he took off running,” but lost track of him about 1 p.m.
* Someone called from Island Road 10 minutes after a man parked near their house “got out of the car and walked into the woods.” When police arrived, they learned the man “just ran out of gas.”
* Two kids on bikes “with a bottle of Mad Dog in their hands” tried to pick a fight with a strange man around 8:40 p.m. on Newton Street.
March 8
* A Highland Avenue couple heard someone knocking on their back door just after midnight. The woman peeped out, and the knocker ran off. She told police she could “smell alcohol strongly.” The husband checked the property and found no one.
* A man called from Shakesville Road to say he “found several little packages at the side of the roadway when he went to check the mail earlier. [He] opened one, and believes that it may contain marijuana.” He asked to speak with an officer.
Bristol Tennessee Police Department
March 5
* Police were called to an Anderson Street apartment when a woman called to ask for help. She said she was “sad and depressed,” so they gave her a lift to the hospital.
March 6
* A woman called from Melody Lane to say a car had recklessly driven into her subdivision, then stopped in front of her house for a few minutes. When police arrived, the alleged reckless driver said he “had not been driving recklessly.”
Neighborhood Watch
* The Quail Ridge Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Ely Residence, 15126 Quail Ridge Way in Abingdon.
* The Hurricane Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Hurricane Baptist Church in Wise.
* The Melvin Hills, Oak Hill Estates and Wyndale Community Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church on Lee Highway in Abingdon.
* The Highlander Park, Evergreen Hills and Lowry Hills Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Noonkester Field Park.
