* Police arrested a man spotted “laying on the ground behind the dumpsters” on Clinton Avenue at 8 a.m.
* Someone on Park Street “found a set of brass knucks beside the house” at 9:15 a.m.
* A man was arrested after being caught “passed out drunk” on a chair inside a Bristol Mall store at 5 p.m.
* A woman called from her green convertible to say half a dozen drunken people in a maroon van were “threatening to kill her and saying they are going to kill her” just before 10 p.m. She told police that “she has a knife and she will kill somebody if they try to hurt her.”

March 6
* A woman told police she “consumed two Smirnoffs” before driving 55 mph along Volunteer Parkway, in a 35 mph zone. She failed three field sobriety tests and was taken to jail.
* Garage bands have suddenly started irritating people all over town. First, police were called to a self storage unit on Volunteer Parkway, where “two gentlemen [were] conducting band practice.” They “agreed to quit for the evening and left without incident.” The next day at 11:15 p.m., officers went to West Cedar Street, where they “could hear loud music” from a block away. They found the “band practice,” and warned them to keep the noise down.

* The Quail Ridge Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ely Residence, 15126 Quail Ridge Way in Abingdon, Va.
* The Hurricane Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hurricane Baptist Church in Wise, Va.
