Guard units from East Tennessee to deploy to Iraq

A Tri-Cities Military Police unit will soon be deploying to Iraq.
Bristol's Detachment 1 of the 253rd Military Police Company is scheduled to depart from the Bristol National Guard Armory by bus at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25.
The two dozen soldiers will travel to Lenoir City to integrate with their higher headquarters before ultimately going to their mobilization station.
Lenoir City's 253rd Military Police Company, along with the Detachment from Bristol will then report for training at Fort Dix, New Jersey before deploying to Iraq.
The deployment is expected to last one year.
