Sullivan Central Junior Blake Roller addresses local Key Club members.
Any cancer patient will tell you, chemotherapy is no walk in the park. It can cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and a variety of more serious side effects.
When treatment begins, distractions can help. That was the idea behind a local Key Club project.
Area students met at Sullivan North High School on Sunday -- to build gift baskets for local chemotherapy patients.
Sullivan Central Junior Blake Roller said the chemotherapy center at Holston Valley Medical Center sees 25 patients each week. So, the club originally decided to build 25 baskets.
"We broke that goal and set a new goal of 40 baskets," Roller said.
The project, originally scheduled for February, was pushed back two weeks due to inclement weather.
