A woman in Hawkins County was recently pulled over by what she thought was a legitimate police officer but when she questioned the man at her window he was proved to be a fake.

A woman in Hawkins County was recently pulled over by what she thought was a legitimate police officer but when she questioned the man at her window he was proved to be a fake.

Law enforcement impersonators are a rare occurrence but they do happen. What can you do if you think the officer behind you is not the real thing ?

Lieutenant Randall Wines with the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Office said if you are unsure of the officers credibility you should call 911 immediately to confirm that the officer is for real. Wines also said if the stop occurs at night you should always try to pull over into a well lit area where other people are present.
