Authorities in South Carolina identified a body Wednesday found six weeks ago in woods off Interstate 26.

The man found dead is Keith Konkol of Kingsport, according to the Sheriff's Department in Newberry County, SC.

Sheriff James Foster said Konkol went to Florida with another Kingsport man, Jeremiah Fields, to buy prescription drugs in Florida.

Fields told deputies on their way back from Florida to Tennessee, Konkol died from a drug overdose.

Fields said he panicked and dragged Konkol's body into a wooded area and left it there while he continued on to Tennessee.

Sheriff Foster said there is no evidence Fields caused Konkol's death, but his office issued an arrest warrant for Fields on charges of desecrating human remains for dumping Konkol's body in the woods.

Fields is currently in the Sullivan County jail for violating probation.  He was arrested in 2006 on drug charges.
