Nine out of 10 women own at least one pair of jeans. And more than half say that they have trouble finding a pair that fits, according to a survey from Consumer Reports ShopSmart magazine. ShopSmart had staffers try on jeans that promise to flatter your figure to see whether they work.
First Melissa—her old jeans are from the juniors department, and she didn't like how they looked from the back. The $42 Lee's Perfectly Lifts You promises to help, and they did.
Antonella's old jeans gave her a muffin top and just didn't flatter her at the waist. They also did nothing to elongate her legs. With the $44 Levi's Perfectly Slimming 512 Straight Leg, she looks slimmer and taller. The waist fits better, too—no muffin top.
And Jennifer's been losing weight, so her jeans are too big and baggy—hiding her new figure. The $50 L.L.Bean's Slimming Jeans make Jen look a size smaller.
ShopSmart's take: You don't need to spend a fortune. It's all about the fit and what feels and looks right on your body.
And just in case you thought you were the only one, in ShopSmart's survey super low-waisted jeans are the style women most want to go away and never come back.
