A major winter storm continues to target the Tri-Cities Region with the heaviest snow arriving after 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through early Saturday afternoon.
"The only variable at this point seems to be the timing," said Rob Williams, 11 Connect meteorologist. "All the elements are lining up for this to be a significant snow event."
Here's a look at estimated snow totals:
Tri-Cities: 7-9 inches
Southwest Virginia: 4-8 inches
Western North Carolina: 10-12 inches (isolated areas could see even more)
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Tri-Cities Region effect 3 p.m. Friday and continuing through late Saturday afternoon.
The snow storm will create treacherous travel across Tennessee with ice and accumulating snow creating problems statewide. The 11 Connects Storm Team says heavy snow and ice will accumulate across North Carolina. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell declared a state of emergency for southern Virginia ahead of the storm's arrival.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Officials say tens of thousands of people may not get electricity back for days following a nasty ice and
snow storm in Oklahoma and the Southern Plains that's now moving into the South.
Winter storm warnings are in effect from New Mexico to North Carolina.
Heavy ice brought down electrical lines and trees limbs, knocking out lights and heat. Air travel was disrupted and roads were closed.
The snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected to crawl east through today. Forecasters say as much as 10 inches of snow could
fall in Arkansas near the Missouri border. Northern parts of central Tennessee could see up to 8 inches and western North
Carolina could get hit with a foot of snow.
The National Weather Service says another wave of precipitation is headed for areas already hit.
