Carter Co., Tenn. -- A house fire turned deadly in Carter Co. Saturday morning. Around 11:30 a.m., Carter Co. dispatch alerted the Hampton-Valley Forge Fire Department of a fully engulfed trailer on H. Heaton Road, just off Siam Road.
Two residents of the home were taken to Johnson City Medical Center with severe burns, but two others didn't make it through the fire alive.
Hampton-Valley Forge Fire Department Chief, Johnny Isaacs said flames were so dense, the trailer was probably too far gone by the time it was called in.
"Once we pulled in on scene," Isaacs said, "we knew it was going to be recovery, and no rescue, because there was just so much fire. We couldn't get in." At least two residents of the home were on oxygen tanks; some of the tanks in the home exploded, fueling the fire, as fire crews worked.
The Carter County coroner was on the scene, and he said they were still trying to confirm the identities of the deceased. Saturday afternoon, they sent the bodies to the Quillen College of Medicine, for autopsies. Causes of death will help further investigations into what exactly happened Saturday morning.
