Church Hill man sentenced for multiple robberies

A Church Hill man will serve the next 12 years in prison for several convenience store robberies around the region.

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced Travis Wayne Gunter to 12 years in federal prison and three years on supervised release following his sentence.

The sentence is the result of Gunter pleading guilty to charges of multiple robberies of convenience stores in both Hawkins and Greene Counties from May of 2008 to February of 2009.

Gunter still faces charges in Hawkins County for a jail escape in February of 2009.
