A Mountain City was arrested for possession of "meth precurcors" with intent to manufacture methamphetamine by the Watauga County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.
According to the Watauga County Sheriff's Office, detectives received information that the suspect, William Wayne Carpenter , was going to different pharmacies purchasing items to manufacture methamphetamine. Detectives were able to locate Carpenter, and stop the vehicle, according to police reports.
During the investigation, officers found evidence of purchases of iodine and pseudoephedrine products from different pharmacies inside the vehicle. Detectives also found evidence that Carpenter buys quantities of pseudoephedrine products at different pharmacies throughout the area.
Carpenter was arrested and placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $12,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 11th, 2010. The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
