UPDATE 02/01/2010:
After an internal investigation and review by Sheriff Wayne Anderson, Officer Samuel Bledsoe has been terminated from his employment with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. His termination for a General Order Code of Conduct violation is effective immediately.
Bledsoe appeared in court today after being charged with driving under the influence on Friday night.

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. – A Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after being stopped on Interstate 81 Friday night.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested Deputy Samuel Bledsoe, 47, of Bowman Creek Road, about 8 p.m. Bledsoe was charged with a first-offense DUI, according to a statement released Saturday by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
Bledsoe was released from the Sullivan County Jail on Saturday morning, on a $1,500 bond.
Authorities said further details will not be available until Monday.
Reached by phone at his Blountville home, Bledsoe declined to comment. He is scheduled to be arraigned in General Sessions Court on Monday morning.
Sheriff’s Captain Keith Elton said Bledsoe was suspended, and the office is conducting an internal investigation.
