RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's unemployment rate remained
unchanged in July and is still well below the national average.
The Virginia Employment Commission said Friday its adjusted
unemployment rate remained at 7.0 percent in July. That compares
with 6.9 percent last July.
The agency said the number of unemployed in Virginia fell by
only about 1,460 from June to July.
The national rate stood at 9.5 percent in July, unchanged from
June. The Labor Department says unemployment fell in only 18
states.
