Erwin, Tenn. -- A Unicoi County teen is dead after what some are calling a "freak accident."
14 year old Jordan Alexis Dwomick was listening to music, sunbathing in her backyard, on Lee Dtreet, in Erwin, when four 2x10s fell off a stack of lumber, on top of her.
Unicoi County coroner, Ed Herndon, tells 11 connects that her parents found her just before three thirty, saturday afternoon. They tried to perform CPR as they called 911.
Dwomick had been lying on her stomach, and the wooden planks were stacked near by. The lumber had been in the same spot for several years, and no one knows how they fell.
"There was some wind, but none was observed to be high enough to move these heavy boards," said Herndon. "The total stack that fell was over 200 pounds."
The Dwomick family will hold a visitation for Jordan at Unicoi County High School, Thursday afternoon, between 4:30 and 6:30. The funeral service will be held following visitation. A graveside burial will be Friday, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery.
