Blountville, Tenn. -- Many families in the region got an extra happy start to their Easter celebrationsSaturday.
Troops from the 702nd Engineer Company, that's of the U.S. Army Reserves, returned to our region, after a year deployment in Iraq.
Families gathered at Tri-Cities Regional Airport to welcome their soldiers home. Kids held tight to their "hug bears," with pictures of deployed parents, which served as comfort as they were gone. Soldiers return to see their kids bigger and with new missing teeth. They will be home for upcoming birthdays, and of course, Easter celebrations.
"I'm really happy," said Spc. Christopher Bennett, of Gray, TN. "I walked off my plane, walked in here, next thing you know I saw my mother. You know, it's awesome to see my mother. I miss her a lot. I miss my family. It's just, a really good feeling... feels like the world's lifted off my shoulders now."
The 702nd spent a year in Iraq working on construction and infrastructure missions. They made their way back to the Tri by way of Fort McCoy, Wisc.
