Just months after hiring 70 new employees, Johnson City's Traco plant announced today it is shutting down. Traco Spokesperson Denise Abraham confirmed the news, saying the plant closure was the result of a "very difficult decision."
The company, which specializes in making energy efficient windows and doors, made the announcement this morning. According to Abraham, 180 people will lose their jobs as the result of the closure.
Back in may, Traco hired 70 new employees after closing its operations in Georgia. 2009 marked the 10-year anniversary of the company in Johnson City. Traco now plans to move its Johnson City operations to its main facility outside of Pittsburgh to help the company run more efficiently.
