Sept. 11

* A “very intoxicated” Portsmouth Avenue woman called police at 5 a.m. to report that her “husband is volatile,” although she didn’t specify whether they were fighting.
* Dogs on Hill Drive were barking and annoying the neighbors “again.”
Sept. 12
* A woman strolling down Valley Drive near Walgreens at 1 a.m. “suddenly fell down, then got back up and continued on.”
Sept. 15
* Someone reported that they thought “someone was shooting a gun” near Magnolia Drive and Cross Street at 5:38 p.m. Eleven minutes later, police found nothing in the area.
* After picking up some beer at Food City, a woman popped one open and drank it as she drove her red Chevy Blazer down Commonwealth Avenue toward Interstate 81 at 5:44 p.m. Another woman was seen “stripping” in the passenger seat as they rolled along.
* A Portsmouth Avenue woman called police at 7 p.m., screamed and cursed into the phone while refusing to give any information other than several people were trying to “kick someone’s butt.” Police found that it was just a family argument.
* Several people went door to door shopping for crack cocaine at a Second Street apartment complex. The caller told police the crew left a white four-door Dodge truck in the parking lot around 8 p.m. and started knocking on doors looking for drugs.
* Two kids laid in the middle of Jane Lane with their bicycles in tow, and onlookers told police they were a traffic hazard at 10:15 p.m.
Neighborhood Watch
* The Zion Community, Ramblewood and Widener’s Valley Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 tonight at Zion United Methodist Church in Damascus, Va.
* The Sandy Ridge Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 tonight at Meade’s Chapel Church. Residents of Sandy Ridge and the surrounding area of Coeburn, Va., are welcome.
* The Melvin Hills, Oak Hill Estates and Wyndale Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Abingdon.
* The Hayter’s Gap Neighborhood Watch will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Hayter’s Gap Community Center in Saltville.
* Anyone interested in starting a Neighborhood Watch in Bristol, Va., should contact Nicole Slagle, crime prevention coordinator with the Bristol Virginia Police Department, at (276) 645-7281.
* Anyone interested in starting a Neighborhood Watch in Wise County should contact Sgt. Chuck Stapleton, crime prevention officer with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, at (276) 328-3566.
