Doubters Look For Contradictions

»  Comments | Post a Comment

This is regarding the letter printed on Aug. 24 from James Cannon listing some supposed contradictions in the Bible.
Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote that Simon of Cyrene carried the cross for Jesus, but John said only Jesus carried the cross. The Apostles never had the same viewpoint. For example: You stand on a corner and see the street, but you cannot see the truck around the corner. If the Apostles desired to make all their stories the exact same it would have been simple to copy from one another. In this instance John observed the beginning of Jesus climbing the hill and did not witness when Simon took the cross from Jesus. This was an honest report of what John saw and he included nothing which he did not witness. This happens throughout the New Testament. This proves there is no guile in the Bible stories.
No amount of proof will convince these seeking the lie, but those desiring the truth will search it out and will discover the Bible is 100 percent accurate. For those who cannot understand the Bible, God explains this in verses such as:
Matthew 13:
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Also in I Corinthians 1:
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
The Bible needs no defense.
