Several neighbors and I attended the Sept. 3 supervisors meeting in Gate City, Va., for a decision on whether to move the Clark’s Precinct to the new Boozy Creek Community Center. The board acted after the resignation of Mr. Gary Baker from the board of trustees was announced to the board of supervisors.
Mr. Paul Fields from District 1 made the motion to move the precinct, and Mr. Kinkaid seconded the motion. The vote was 5 for, 1 against, and our supervisor, Joe Horton in District 2, abstained. I want to personally thank Mr. Fields and the members of the board who voted to move Clark’s Precinct to the new location. Mr. Parks voted no because he wants to close all the small precincts and move them to Hiltons or Gate City.
Joe Horton is not for the majority of the people, but a select few. When Horton ran for supervisor the first time, his platform was to get water for the Boozy Creek Community. I attended PSA meetings for over a year and Horton was present for a couple of meetings. Not once did he speak up about any phase of the Boozy Creek water project. He was silent then, as he was when the vote was taken to move Clark’s Precinct.
Joe, you should resign, let someone have your seat as you are just taking up space. We need someone who can make a decision for the majority of the people and leave politics out of it.
