My family should have it made with health insurance coverage. We have a federal employee Blue Cross & Blue Shield program. Additionally, my husband is covered by the Veterans Administration and Medicare Part-A. We could use Tri-Care as well, provided it wasn’t so difficult to find accepting providers in this area.
In view of the listed coverage, would you believe our out-of-pocket costs and insurance premiums for health care have consumed 29.8 percent of our annual income? The percentage will be even higher within the next four months! The percentage will go even higher in the coming years if something isn’t done soon. After all, we’re not getting any younger.
We need the government to step in and fix this runaway train called health care. With or without the “just say no,” bunch of sore losers on board, the government needs to pass a health care reform bill now! Included in this bill should be:
- An end to discrimination due to prior existing conditions
.
- Prohibition of exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses, co-payments and deductibles.
- An end to annual and lifetime caps on insurance coverage.
- A rewrite of Medicare Part D to aid retirees and the elderly.
- A modernization of the health records system to prevent repeated and unnecessary testing.
- Payment to medical personnel and facilities should be based on quality not quantity.
- A fair market value should be placed on services rendered and pharmaceuticals, and enforce it!
- Create a public health insurance program to help the uninsured and others not so lucky as my family.
We can get it done!
