Horse Riders Deserve Safe Spaces For Hobby

»  Comments | Post a Comment

My niece, nephew and one of their friends were riding their horses along Campground Road on Aug. 30. They’ve been having a serious problem with dogs coming after their horses and spooking the horses.

But this isn’t the only problem they’ve encountered. Rude people go as far as honking, making obscene gestures and cussing them. I remember when I was younger, my sister and I would ride on the train tracks so we wouldn’t endanger ourselves or our horses and so we could enjoy ourselves.

I’m not asking for much and I’m not trying to take anything away from anyone, but I do believe we, as a community, should compromise for everyone, including the children, to give them a trail they could ride. We should stop the madness of people being defensive about horse riders, and give them a place to enjoy what they love doing.
