ABINGDON, Va. – Cities and counties around Southwest Virginia are preparing for Election Day, Nov. 3, when many of them will choose local officials.
Washington, Smyth, Wise, Grayson and Tazewell counties have county supervisor and school board races on the ballot, while Russell County and the cities of Bristol and Norton will vote for constitutional officers. Norton also has one School Board race.
The most contested is a four-way race for treasurer in Russell County; one of those candidates, a former circuit court clerk, has a son running in a three-way race for commonwealth’s attorney in the same county.
