Christmas lights await their annual display in Rogersville – but this year, the lights will have to wait.
That’s because vandals have caused an estimated $4,000 worth of damage to the Christmas displays at Rogersville City Park.
The damage, which was discovered Tuesday morning, was caused before town officials even had a chance to turn them on. Among the damage, Santa and his sleigh and two toy soldiers, displays costing an estimated $1,400 to $1,800.
Park workers are currently working to undo the damage caused by vandals, and making preparations to get all the displays ready for the year.
It is unclear whether things will be repaired in time to fire up the lights Friday, but workers hope to have them up this season.
