An Elizabethton man is in jail today after Johnson City Police say they stopped him during a traffic stop and he tried to run.
Derek Wayne Brown, 19, of Arrow Street, Elizabethton was arrested in front of the Fox Motel, Market Street in Johnson City.
During the traffic stop, police say Brown fled on foot from the officers after he had been placed in custody for possession of schedule VI.
He has been charged with escape, two counts of identity theft, evading arrest and simple possession of a schedule VI drug.
He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond and will appear in court later this week.
