Gov. Timothy Kaine plans to meet with a state panel to discuss the prospects for Virginia's strained
budget.
Kaine is scheduled on Monday to head a meeting of his Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates.
The worst economic conditions since the Great Depression have forced more than $5.5 billion in budget reductions in a little over a year. Continuing declines in monthly tax collections indicate more difficulties for a new biennial budget that Gov.-elect Bob
McDonnell and legislators must assemble during the upcoming General Assembly session.
A shortfall of at least $1 billion already confronts that budget.
