Open house to be held Nov. 28 at store

BRISTOL, Va.Reagan Griffin showed off a tunic and said, “You can’t just find this at the local mall.”
Griffin talked about style, fashion and trends. And the 18 year old also talked about family tradition.
Griffin’s grandfather Bobby Griffin, a Bristol businessman, helped start the new Studio 6 Apparel, where Reagan works with her mom, Suzy Griffin, and a friend, 18-year-old Tayler Jackson.
“These girls have very fine taste, and they help me,” said Suzy Griffin, the store’s manager. “If you want to have your own personal style and be unique and fun, this is where you come.”
‘A NICHE’
Open since late summer, Studio 6 Apparel stands at the Goosecreek Center, behind Midway Furniture, near the intersection of Lee Highway and Travelite Drive at Exit 7 in Bristol, Va. Often, in the course of stocking the store, Reagan recalls the words of her grandfather.
“He tells me so much stuff every day – of course, to work hard and never give up,” Reagan said. “You have to just keep on working.”
Bobby Griffin owns a car wash and other firms in Bristol.
“A lot of people said, ‘You’re crazy going into the clothing business,’ ” Bobby Griffin said. “But we’re going to have a niche here. It’s not going to be the same old ‘blah.’ ”
‘MIX IT UP’
Studying fashion basics at Virginia High School has helped Reagan, she said. “It helps me help my mom price the clothing.”
Part of the initial stock for Studio 6 Apparel came from a now-defunct Bristol clothing store called “Why Not?”
Yet a new line of Ed Hardy clothing is now en route to the shop, Suzy Griffin said, and that new line should help define the store’s image.
“I feel that it’s a boutique for women and men,” Reagan Griffin said. “My mom wanted to mix it up. She liked having it chic and modern.”
