Although President Barack Obama has said America isn’t a Christian nation, as a Christian I thank God I live in America where we have freedom of religion.
There are 52 countries were Christians are persecuted and thousands are killed! (Note: Those being persecuted have expressed that they are thankful for the honor of suffering for Jesus. All Christians are called to pray for those being persecuted and to do something worthy of persecution themselves!)
Although the routine of my job is monotonous and the paychecks are hard to live on, I thank God for the opportunity and ability to work. There are millions who don’t have the ability to work and now there are millions who don’t have the opportunity to work because our country has it’s worst employment rate in 25 years! Although my dinner table never looks like the pictures in magazines or on TV, I thank God for the great variety of food I have. There are a billion people who are hungry and the majority of the people of the world eat the same thing everyday.
Although I’m not wearing the latest styles of clothes, I thank God for the variety of clothes I have. There are more than a billion people who have only the clothes on their backs.
Although I have sinned and broken God’s commandments, I thank God that He sent His son Jesus to die for my sins that turning from sin and trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord I could have fellowship with God and not fear death and have a mansion in Heaven. So like the other 2 billion Christians in the world I can have the attitude that is pleasing to God, the attitude of gratitude! Like all Christians I’m thankful first and always to Jesus who with His precious blood has fully paid for all my sins on the cross!
