PINEY FLATS, Tenn. – Bluff City’s two new speed enforcement cameras, which are at either end of the city’s 3.8-mile-long, 45-mph zone on U.S. Highway 11E, should be operating by Wednesday.
Once the cameras are installed, Police Chief David Nelson said, the city’s employees will spend three to four weeks learning how to operate them before the devices go online and start monitoring the speeds of drivers on the highway.
Drivers will have to pay a $50 fine and $45 in court costs each time they are caught speeding by the cameras, Nelson said. He added that the city will give drivers a 30-day grace period to get used to the cameras before tickets are written.
